Re: Independent’s Day


Excellent essay, O Masked One.

One other thing I like to point out when this topic comes up is this sentence, the last sentence of the Declaration of Independence:

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.

The men signing this document knew they were committing treason against Great Britain, and if they’d been caught by the British forces they could look forward to death, and probably the seizure of their property by the British Crown as well.

These men weren’t fooling around, they were literally laying their lives on the line. Where are the men willing to do that for America today?
