I really wanted to headline this Ted Cruz Gives Atomic Wedgie to Every Pair of Lace Panties at Foggy Bottom. Alas, that’s too long for a headline. Still, one has to love Cruz. Anybody who can make that many beltway bandits so mad they can’t see straight has to be doing something right. And today it would appear every cleaners in the DC metro area is inundated with filmy underthings.
Politico has a story up today about Super Ted slamming the State Department for calling his suggestion FAA’s travel ban to Israel may have been politically motivated “ridiculous and offensive:”
“What is ridiculous is the Obama administration refusing to answer simple questions about whether this was dictated by politics and why the FAA is singling out Israel while not focusing on other areas around the world,” the Texas Republican said Wednesday night on Fox News’ “Hannity.” “Was this politics from the White House? Or was this an airline safety decision? And I think the facts strongly suggest it was politics and an effort to strong arm the nation of Israel.”
“What is offensive is the Obama administration giving $47 million that will go to Hamas, who is actively trying to kill civilians, while simultaneously imposing millions of dollars of economic harm to our friends and allies in Israel.”
Cruz has vowed to block all forthcoming State Department nominees until his questions in this matter are answered.
The State Department has not taken Cruz’s insinuation kindly:
“It’s ridiculous and offensive, quite frankly,” State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf said during a press briefing. “The FAA takes its responsibilities very seriously. … They make these decisions based solely on the safety and security of American citizens, period. For anyone to suggest otherwise is just ridiculous.”
FWIW, the FAA ended the travel ban to Israel late last night. Still, one has to wonder: If FAA thought it was necessary to stop US flights to Israel because a single rocket landed “somewhere near the airport,” why did global aviation authorities wait until after MH-17 was actually shot down over Ukraine before forbidding flights through the jetway over the war zone? Cruz is not the only person who thought the flight ban was unnecessary. Really, the Arabists is the State Department need to be cleaned out. Usually they can mostly be held in check by a solid Secretary of State, but when State is headed by the Unholy Alliance of Obama and Kerry… well, they’re doing a lot of damage.
Why does Congress– more importantly, why do the People– tolerate a State Department staff who work so diligently against American national interests?
