No doubt this is part of the reason, CW. Even so, they really do want to repeal the AUMF, and they think droning people is really neat. I have never understood that, exactly, beyond the obvious fact they’re really, really adverse to taking casualties. They should be, of course, all good commanders are. Still, there are limits to what one can do with drones, and sometimes you can’t accomplish the mission without some risk.
To paraphrase the old saying, you can lead a President to his Constitutional duty, but only the Supreme Court can make him do it.
