Folks, being connected to Obama is getting downright toxic to Democrats. Just ask Natalie Tennant, who’s been Secretary of State since 2009:
The campaign chairman for Democratic Senate nominee Natalie Tennant recently said Tennant agrees with President Barack Obama “on most of his policies.”
Maj. Gen. Allen Tackett, the retired head of the West Virginia National Guard, misspoke when he made the statement Saturday in Logan before a Democratic campaign event, Tennant campaign spokeswoman Jenny Donohue said.
“The general misspoke. Natalie does not support the majority of the president’s policies,” Donohue said Monday evening.
“The only thing that influences Natalie Tennant’s policies is what’s right for the people of West Virginia. She’ll stand up to the president when he’s wrong, and she’ll work with anyone who’s willing to do what’s right for West Virginia.”
Uh, yeah, right… Tennant has only been endorsed by Michelle Obama herself, but nothing to see here, ignore that woman behind the curtain.
First lady Michelle Obama told attendees at a fundraiser Monday it’s critical West Virginia Secretary of State Natalie Tennant becomes the state’s next U.S. senator.
Her campaign is trying to claim that’s not an endorsement, but when someone says it’s “critical” that a candidate get elected, it’s hard to proclaim that’s not an endorsement. If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, after all.
Rockefeller’s seat is key to keeping the Senate Democratic, and the non-partisan West Virginia poll shows Natalie and Capito in a dead heat. The race could well bust all West Virginia spending records – Capito, a prolific fundraiser, already has nearly $2.9 million in the bank. Natalie will be counting on the EMILY’s List community to raise the resources necessary to compete with Capito – and a National Republican Senatorial Committee determined to retake the Senate – and turn out the voters who will elect her the Mountain State’s first woman senator.
Now, do you really think if she’s elected that she won’t bow at the feet of whatever Obama says he wants, at least until a year or two before she stands for re-election? If you do, I have a bridge to sell you with a wonderful view of San Francisco Bay.
